Call for Entries- Charleston Garden Festival Announces New Competition Series

The Charleston Garden Festival (CGF) at Middleton Place has added a new competition series to its 2008 festival lineup. The Middleton Masters, a competition series spanning all skill sets, invites talented gardeners, horticulturalists, designers and photographers to participate in this year's challenge.

Four divisions will showcase the creative genius of the participants at the festival which will take place at Middleton Place October 17th through the 19th: the Horticulture Division will include best orchid, sunflower and pumpkin; the Design Division will include best floral design, succulent garden, container garden, and real or abstract flower sculpture; the Photography Division, with classes for both professional and amateurs, invites participants to enter photos representing "What does a garden mean to you?" The Art of Recycling Division is open to elementary school through high school students. This imaginative and educational event allows students to develop works of art out of recycled products. An entire class or individual student entries are welcome.

Judging for the Horticulture, and Design Divisions will take place on Friday, October 17 and the Photography and Art of Recycling Divisions will be judged on Saturday, October 18. Prizes will be awarded in each category.
